Information for Research Degree Students

NOTICE

Have you re-enrolled?

All students who enrolled on their programme before 1 August 2019 are required to re-enrol at the beginning of each academic year.

Students who have not re-enrolled are being sent regular messages to their Queen Mary email account to ask them to re-enrol for the 2019/20 academic year.

To re-enrol please log into the MySIS student portal (https://mysis.qmul.ac.uk).

All students need to be enrolled fully throughout their studies until they are awarded their degree, including:

  • applying to transfer to writing up status;
  • in writing up status;
  • thesis submitted and waiting for their viva;
  • making corrections to the thesis after the viva;
  • thesis corrections submitted and award to be approved.

The Research Degrees Office is in Room 2.13, Second Floor, Graduate Centre, Mile End Campus.

This page contains essential information on our services and research degree procedures for research degree students. You should read the forms in conjunction with the Academic Regulations and the Code of Practice 2019/20 [PDF 424KB]. The requirements for research degrees (MPhil, PhD, MD(Res), DrPS and DClinDent) are set out in Appendix 1 of the Academic Regulations.

All students studying for research degrees are automatically enrolled in the Doctoral College. Please refer to the webpages of the Doctoral College to learn more about the support offered to research degree students by the Researcher Development Team, Careers & EnterpriseLibrary and Students' Union.
You can also find out more about funding opportunities.

Continuing students must re-enrol at the beginning of each new academic year. If you have submitted your thesis and/or are making your corrections you are still a student and must be fully enrolled so that we can award you.
