The Research Degrees Office (RDO) provides a coherent administrative service to research students and staff involved in their supervision.
The office is responsible for the following:
- enrolment
- administering status transfers (MPhil to PhD, transfer to writing-up status)
- recording and monitoring student progression in accordance with research councils' and other funding agencies' deadlines, and in collaboration with the Faculty Deans for Research.
- producing documentation for students confirming status (e.g. for Council Tax exemption, visa applications)
- maintaining up-to-date records on all research students including supervision arrangements
- administering studentships for research students.
- development of policies for research studies including the code of practice
- updating and reviewing the regulations and policies for research degree programmes
- administering research degree examinations
